Surprisingly, I really liked hearing about the estate tax and its impact. I had no idea about it. It bothers me because as my boyfriend claims what right does the government have to take your money away after you die. The way Collins' explains the importance and significance of the estate tax really helped me understand why it's crucial to the nation. I was surprised to hear this story and kind of liked it. It’s interesting to think about how the rich would not be where they are without the public’s interest.
I also feel like this short narrative tied into the grander theme of things not appearing as they seem. The sales man probably assumed because she bought she bought what is assumed to be cheaper skiis, perhaps she is not wealthy. I appreciate his notion of being humble through out the book. Every good story requires that you be vulnerable, and to be vulnerable, you have to humble yourself.
