The Great American Fries CO.- Extra Credit

Image
Usually, every Sunday, it's tradition for Brett (my boyfriend) and I  to stroll down to Lincoln park to play basketball in the afternoons . There, guys normally will play matches with each other and  I'll sit and watch. Since going there we've met and played with Adam Sandler and have met (a now close fried)  Jeremy.  Jeremy was a regular who'd always come down to the court and community park at 3pm on Sundays just like Brett. They'd cross paths so often they stared to star and play matches against any guy there on the regular. Jeremy was the type of guy who was a social buttery and can attain and sustain a man's attention with his can-do attitude and charisma. His presence was so well known that when he went MIA in June, we notice.  We quickly learned of his where about  and discovered he had opened this fries truck smack dab in the corner of Ocean and Colorado with his father. It's the perfect finger food at the most renown...

Pitch- Heather's Home

Heather's Home SHElter Our organization aims to provide shelter for young adult women who want to leave their current living situation but do not have the finances to do so on their own.  Focused on targeting those who want to leave abusive situations , SHElter provides a safe haven for this transitional period.  SHElter provides a home during a transitional phase for students who have to work. Upon entry, SHElter requires its tenants to find a job, or prove student status or already existing employment.  While we lend a helping hand to those in unfortunate living situations, we do not want to incentivize our resources being taken advantage of.  The purpose of SHElter is to provide protection and comfort to the most people possible, and the quicker we can help young adult women to become self sufficient on their own means we get to take in more young adult women to help grow and succeed in their lives. SHElter is unique because it focuses on a specific s...

I currently am sitting in bed eating dulce de leche cookies and watching Disney's Coco. While I am not a fan of the recent Disney flicks, I genuinely like "Coco" so far. It made me laugh! It reminded me of hispanic traditions and what it was life was like growing up; for example, when the grandmother asked if he wanted more tamales and she got mad and insisted on giving more. It made me laugh because it's a sign of gratitude and good manners to accept the food of others. **fell asleep while typing*** Today is a new day. I heard back in terms of setting up informationals with higher ups within the company. I would love to hear what others say as other's say in terms of this but I feel like HR people are very hush hush and not likely to help. They always say they are there to help but I find other wise. I haven't had time to do this online interview and it's been frustrating me. I emailed to ask if I could just write my answers but it was no. I was very ...

Surprisingly, I really liked hearing about the estate tax and its impact. I had no idea about it. It bothers me because as my boyfriend claims what right does the government have to take your money away after you die. The way Collins' explains the importance and significance of the estate tax really helped me understand why it's crucial to the nation.  I was surprised to hear this story and kind of liked it. It’s interesting to think about how the rich would not be where they are without the public’s interest. I also feel like this short narrative tied into the grander theme of things not appearing as they seem. The sales man probably assumed because she bought she bought what is assumed to be cheaper skiis, perhaps she is not wealthy. I appreciate his notion of being humble through out the book.  Every good story requires that you be vulnerable, and to be vulnerable, you have to humble yourself.
