Ever since our guest speakers I've been feeling inspired. I found both their talks to be exceptionally great and I took so much from it. But with that and watching the 2018 Basketball drafts I've been thinking... does society pressure us to do so much by the age of 21? Seeing Mo Wagner living out his dream at my age was kind of a shocking and profound moment.
This summer I am interning at E! at NBC. My dream job is to be an E! News correspondent and now that I am here that is all I can long and wish for. I see Jason Kennedy, Erin Lim, Zuri, my former boss Morgan Stewart and now soon to be Gulianna Rancic. I sit diagonally from the president of E! everyday but then I start fantasizing of all that could be I can't help but feel slumped at the idea that I'm at my desk doing research and marketing insights. Don't get me wrong- it's pretty fascinating stuff and I love it. But often times I would rather be reading off a teleprompter. Have you ever felt frustrated that you are not where you want to be yet?
These are the current thoughts and emotions rattling my brain 9-6pm on the job. I found all of these correspondents emails and numbers. A part of me wants to pre write an email and tell them what a "full circle" experience this is for me. I want to press send. Can I?
It can be frustraiting to be so close to your dreams, but that ambition is what is pushing you to do better. Being exposed, being hungry for more, and having the drive to do what it takes will get you where you want to go!
ReplyDeleteI agree with this one hundred percent. So much pressure is put on young people today, to reach higher and higher goals. I envy the fact that you seem to know exactly what you want to do. One day I'm frustrated because I want to drop out of college and pursue surfing, the next I want to get my PhD... Sooo I would enjoy your journey, it sounds like you will get there.
ReplyDeleteI think that you should do what you have a passion for. It will ultimately keep you going in rough times and make the boring times more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! Seeing all the success stories of so many young people, I also feel a bit pressured. I have a vision of where I want to be, but the process of getting there can be a bit frustrating and long. But, I think your passion and drive will keep pushing you closer and closer to your goal!
ReplyDeleteI feel you. Last semester, I got up everyday unhappily because of nothing, but I finally found way out of that kind of bad feeling. My tip for you might be ... take a good rest and think through from a different way. Sometimes, the reason we feel frustrated is we unconsciously narrow down our vision. Give yourself some time to stop and relax. I believe the solution will come to you. Fight On!
ReplyDeleteI loved all of the guest speakers too!!! I felt so inspired after all of them and it is so overwhelming to think about all of the possibilities! I feel really lucky as well, but it is pretty stressful to think about how to get to the point where they are at now and all of the risks we will want and need to make to have a successful and fulfilling career.
